In
short, no need to say more to understand that if you are a brand with high
potential on Instagram, it is essential to use Instagram Shopping. In this guide, we are going to tell you how to easily set up Instagram Shopping in
just 3 steps.
A a quick overview of Instagram Shopping
If
Instagram Shopping is not for you, it is simply a mobile Instagram storefront. Each
month, 130 million Instagram accounts tap on a purchase post to
learn more about a product.
The goal of Instagram Shopping is to facilitate and make the shopping
experience fluid: from discovery to purchase, on mobile. With just a
few clicks, a user can discover a product, similar products, and buy quickly
without having to leave Instagram. In a few months, everything will be
done directly on Instagram, even the payment, thanks to Checkout, currently
being tested in the United States.
It
suffices to identify a product on any content, in order to transform it into an
opportunity to sell. Even if a sale is not concluded directly, a person
can also register a product, in order to find it in a collection
dedicated to Shopping.
Instagram
Shopping allows anyone to discover your business and its products, even if they
are not yet subscribed to your account.
Finally,
over the past few weeks, Instagram has also been testing the possibility
of launching Shopping publications in the form of advertisements.

The criteria to activate Instagram Shopping
Before
creating your store, it is important to verify that your business is eligible
for the Shopping feature. Here are the latter:
·

in a market where the Shopping functionality is supported (in France this is
the case)
·
sell
physical goods
·
respect Instagram business
rules
·
have
a professional account
·
Link
Instagram account with a Facebook page. If this is not the case yet, just
go to your Instagram account, click on “Edit profile”. In the “Public
information about the company” section, click on Page and choose the
Facebook page to associate.
·
have
a web domain on which you sell or intend to sell
If
all the criteria are met, let's move on to the next step!
However, to check: to activate
Instagram Shopping, you must have a Creator account or a Professional
account. If you have a personal account, for example, you will have to
switch to a Pro account.
2-
Connect a catalog
A
catalog on Instagram Shopping is indeed a catalog, namely the list of all the
products that you offer for sale. To connect a catalog to your Instagram
account two options are available:
·
use the catalog manager, in this case, it's up to you to
do it autonomously via Facebook. If you already have catalogs, it is quite
possible to connect your account to one of these
·
use a Facebook partner, if you prefer to leave the
creation of the catalog to experts, you can call on certified Facebook partners
Here,
we will show you how to create a catalog, via the catalog manager and therefore
the Business Manager.
To
start, you have to go to the page dedicated to the catalog: right there. Then
click on “Create Catalog”. Before this step, your Facebook page and your
Instagram account must be linked.
It
will then be necessary to define the type of catalog: e-commerce, travel, and
real estate, automobile.
Then, you have to configure the catalog parameters, namely:
·
the
catalog name
·
catalog
owner
·
import
mode
o you can add your
products manually, in batches, or use the Facebook pixel
o you can connect a
compatible e-commerce platform like Shopify
The catalog is then
created! From
there, you have to complete the catalog by adding articles.
For
this it is possible to add products one by one, by hand by filling out a form
including all the essential information:
·
picture
·
title
·
description
·
website
link
·
price
·
product
condition: new, reconditioned, used
·
check
if the item is on sale or not
·
the
brand (optional information
·
a
content ID (optional information)
You
will then have to choose the display options.
Once this is done,
Facebook offers to create variations, i.e. “variations of the same item in your
catalog in several sizes, colors, or patterns.” Depending on your products,
this can be interesting.
3-
Subscribe to Instagram Shopping!
Now
that your Instagram account and your catalog are connected, you must have your
account examined to activate the Shopping feature. For that, head to the
Instagram application.
·
Go
to your profile, then click on the three horizontal lines at the top right
·
Select
Settings
·
Go
to Company
·
Click
on “Configure Instagram Shopping”
You
must then follow the various steps: namely, connect your Facebook account,
select the catalog. The account will then go to Instagram to verify
eligibility. Once approved, a notification is sent and it is possible to
use the various features of Instagram Shopping! In the Settings and the
“Shopping” section, you can also check the status of your request at any time.
Best practices after setting up Instagram Shopping
Now
that Instagram Shopping is activated on your account, you have to use
it! For this several things have to be done:
·

the Shop tab on your Instagram professional account

not hesitate to identify the products as soon as they are present on a content:

products in posts posted before getting Instagram Shopping
·
present
more than one product in a post, in particular using carousels (up to 20
